Bo Leictreach (Electric Cow):
The GreenPlay Festival
New 10-minute green plays from Ireland!
August 15, 16, 17 2014
Friday & Saturday @ 7pm; Sunday @ 3pm
Selkie presents the return of the Bo Leictreach GreenPlay Festival, a celebration of new eco/ green plays by Irish playwrights.
“The original Irish plays in Bo Leictreach are an unexpected pleasure,” says Artistic Director George B Miller, “a wild mix of satire, humor, compassion and smarts.”
These intimate staged readings are site-specific, traveling throughout Anam Cara Farm, from the historic 1794 stone farmhouse, to the bucolic grounds and patios outside. We end with a candle-lit reading in the farmhouse’s great room as the sun sets, followed by a bountiful, Irish-themed Meet The Artists reception.
Anam Cara was delighted to host Artists in Unity (AIU) this summer as we debuted our Artists Residency Program.
“My company, Artists In Unity, was able to film for 3 days in July at Anam Cara in a peaceful, nurturing, home environment that allowed us to artistically create and collaborate with no judgment,” Says AIU Artistic Director Lindsay Schaefer. “This new home that AIU has found at Anam Cara through their artistic residency program has furthered our spirits as artists.”
AIU is a professional, collaborative company specializing in dance, film and photography-based projects. Committed to their 3 C’s – creating, collaborating, and giving back to community – AIU artists are also passionately dedicated to the raw process for developing their work together.
Over the past year, AIU has been in the studio, working on their next short dance film. AIU’s Lindsay Schaefer created the choreography for this contemporary dance work for camera, sharing it with dancers in company rehearsals to develop the storyline. They were of in search of film locations in April 2014, when Lindsay discovered Selkie and Anam Cara through friend-in-common Amy Meleck.
